Janie’s Life Changing Baked Goods

Leader

Who are we

Janie Deegan founded Janie's Life-Changing Baked Goods in 2015 after years of struggling with addiction and homelessness. Working to integrate herself back into society and reconstruct her life, Janie re-discovered her passion for baking. She found joy in baking treats for friends, and, fueled by encouragement, challenged herself to sell some of these treats, which turned into a small business before she knew it. Janie is most known for being the inventor of the Pie Crust Cookie, dubbed “The Next Cronut” by top food industry experts. This cookie also helped crown her as a Chopped Champion on Food Network’s Chopped Sweets. Her focus the last few years has been on ramping up the e-commerce business, releasing her Pie Crust Cookie’s Nationally in grocery stores and expanding into three NYC bakery locations - in East Harlem, Upper West Side, and most recently, the West Village. Janie goes above and beyond to give back to her community - providing second chance employment, teaching baking classes to underprivileged youth, and donating time and cookies to local community centers and homeless shelters. Janie - along with her inspiring story - has been featured with The New York Times, Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, CNN, CBS, CNBC, NPR, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Jennifer Hudson Show, and more.

Why we do it

Since 2015, Janie’s has been changing lives with baked goods. Baking holds a special place in our founder’s heart as it gave her hope, strength and inspiration after she struggled with addiction and homelessness as a young adult.
