I feel Expedia's focus on retail is misguided and the home office does not understand the local business experience.

Owning this franchise is a double-edged sword. The Expedia name brings in prospects, but because Expedia means "cheap" to many people, the prospects are more transactional than relational, and the sales are small, which means lots of work for small commissions.

The franchisor is starting to micro-manage our local business, and seems to be making decisions from a corporate office that knows little about the day-to-day opertion in the real world. They also are requiring large investments in retail locations, which are a huge cash drain and have no ROI because the world is moving away from retail, and everyting we do can be done over the phone or email.

Spend some time in the local offices to see how things actually operate.
