If considering buying a preschool franchise, look at other brands. I don’t think they have better branding but at least you can own multiples.
I like my school and the work that I do but I could just as easily bought an independent preschool and kept an extra 9% of revenue in my pocket.
You pay a royalty and an ad fee which I view as an additional royalty. In exchange, you don’t get a nationally recognized brand that brings people in the door like a McDonald’s. You also don’t get effective national ad campaigns like a McDonald’s. I do more for Goddard’s brand than Goddard will ever do for my school. I also don’t like that I cannot operate multiple units because of the onsite owner requirement. Finally, there is a poorly run Goddard very close to my school and I think their reputation has a negative impact on my school.
Reduce the royalty, stay out of the way, allow us to operate multiple units.
