Pelican's itself is an amazing concept and product but corporate is terrible and it's very difficult to make enough money for it to be worth it.
The product itself is amazing and corporate oversight is minimal. Seasonal aspect is awesome but you must save enough for the off season bills/rent, etc. Owned two stores for 7 seasons and the customers were amazing. Off-site Events are where the money is made, but it's extra work especially if you don't have a truck and use tent set-up.
Can't make money in this economy with rising costs and not much is left over after payroll/royalties/sales tax/rent, etc. Corporate is filled with nepotism and no one knows what they're doing- they are stuck in the past. They think they are all good Christian folk but they are not the kindest nor helpful. Marketing is lazy and terrible. Corp doesn't have qualified people in charge of various business functions. Staffing is also a huge challenge and biggest headache. Read the FDA in full and know the terms of the contract.
Hire better people for marketing, etc. Lower royalty fees, allow franchisees to sell other products (nachos, etc. - this is not allowed)
